Why word count matters for the success of online content?

There is a lot of debate between the client, agency, and content writers about the length of an article or a blog. How does it matter and why each industry has a different take on it? High time we addressed it as content writers.

Actually, the length should not be of concern if the content is informative, comprehensive and valid for the reader. However, it is also true that only word count is not sufficient for the blog, article or web content for higher rankings. Only search-engine-optimized content needs to follow the rules.

Currently most IT industry articles hover around 800+ words or the popular mode of pillar content of 2500+ count. Surprisingly both do not get traction or shares. If the content is more than 3000 words it is likely to be taken seriously. Long posts are read over and over again.

Clients require posts for various reasons – blogging, information on the website and marketing purposes.  The long form of articles is preferred as they involve research, insights and interesting information. Such posts help readers to understand the topic and also take actionable results, which is the key to its online success.

Posting regularly and keeping up with trends are equally important for the success of online content.
