Ten surprising reasons why you do not lose weight

Probably this article might be the one, which will help you to recognise at least a few, if not all ten reasons that make you stubbornly fat. Maybe, you are eating too much health food or thinking about exercising or even focused on your desk job, and sleeping less. These are not the only epic reasons that the belly fat or overall rotundness does not budge from the body. Check out these bullet points and you have some real hard things to ponder.

  1. Approach a trainer or dietician and they will be able to understand your fitness and health goals in less than two minutes.

If you still do not have that lean physique- blaming others, circumstances or an event is useless. Blame yourself and there is a measure of success. If you complain about being forced to eat at weddings, parties and not having ‘enough time’ to shed those kilos then there is a ‘fat chance’ of a miracle happening to get a lean physique.

Instead of blaming others who made you eat the cheese-loaded pizza, burger or chocolate donuts simply create the willpower to refuse. In case you indulge then you will need a bigger willpower to workout those extra calories. Make a decision for your life; no one else is involved in it.

  1. Make a sacrifice to stay healthy-always, forever!

This is hard, life has been unfair even otherwise, and to sacrifice eating is an added responsibility. If you want to remain fit then it has to be this way. It has to become a habit. You cannot go on a weight loss program for 8 weeks and hope to remain lean. The process needs to be carried on for the rest of the life. Therefore, even if someone brings in the double tier cake to office/wedding/party, you will have to politely refuse.

It can be a challenge to refuse an irresistible cake. Skip the wedding/ or the event as a sacrifice. Can you do it? If health is the issue in your life, then just make the decision to avoid events where eating will make you cringe.

  1. It is just a little treat, I am having!

Do you know what the real definition of a treat is? Well, it gives pleasure and does not happen daily. True, but if you treat yourself to cookies, wine, chocolates, nachos and chicken wings then how will you lose weight?  We now live in an age where treats are round the corner, any excuse is sufficient to get a treat-it could be a engagement in the family or you may be seriously depressed-any mood swing becomes the ‘window of opportunity’ to have a ‘treat’. No longer, you need a birthday to celebrate, a baby shower, or an anniversary.

Well, now make a commitment to yourself. Go back and check the second point-Sacrifice. It is the keyword, unless your fat genetic code cannot be modified for the next few generations. Do not delude yourself, weight loss is not happening in a jiffy. Each time you think of the treat think of the blubber hanging from the waist.

  1. Did you just give a deadline to your weight loss program?

It is a big mistake when you lose weight only for a particular reason. Many young girls lose weight to fit into the lovely wedding gown. Then it is all over. Keeping fit cannot come with a deadline. If you sign up for membership to the gym, then it has to be a continuous process. If you are constantly looking at the time table, ticking off the number of weeks you have exercised then you will get the stubborn fat back on the body. Being healthy is always a life long decision. It cannot be a gym contract that expires. You have failed the challenge if the goal is only for a few weeks.

  1. Are you expecting results?

Has laziness over powered you completely? This is the only reason why you are expecting results from your fitness routine. It is good to have markers to motivate-like losing 10 kilos before Diwali or New Year. However, to stop at that is a signal to ensure that the stubborn fat will return sooner. It will become friendly to your laziness and couch potato attitude.

Just to let you know that the adipose tissue has developed in the body over a period. How do you expect it to get lost in a mere 6-8 weeks? Being fat is result of several factors, not just the eating habits. Lifestyle also contributes a lot to it. Do not delude yourself and say, I am fat because of my genes and get away with it. You will have to change your diet, exercise, and lifestyle to remain slim.

  1. What is your attitude towards remaining healthy?

Your belief system towards your own health will determine the disposition currently you are in denial with. If you think it is hard on you, think about those who have diabetes, other chronic conditions that compel them to adjust to a lesser life. You are much better off and complaining about less time on hands, sacrificing the family or work.

There is no point in bitching about how hard life is while watching television. You need to have the right attitude to make your fat loss goals succeed. It is not too hard to exercise at home. Take a walk in the park, get a dog at home or do volunteer work that makes  you move. Take the step, spring around and make it a daily habit.

  1. Be realistic towards yourself

Eventually it is your life and how much fat you need to dispose off. Depending on your age and capability it is best to judge the real measure of weight loss. A trainer or coach can help you only if you want to help yourself. Endure the health factor till your dying day. This is a hard reality to put up with.

  1. Are you telling a ‘white lie’ to yourself?

You cannot be a supermodel for the rest of your life. So having such a body will be a lie. You need to be fitness-wise. A ‘cheat day’ is not good. No matter how much other articles, blogs and information tell you that binging once in awhile is okay cannot be serious. Read number 3 (treating yourself) again to understand this point. Get a healthy snack and do not binge on it either. Moderation is the key to survive the fat routine.

Avoid telling yourself that after pregnancy you will not lose weight or your built is made ‘fat’. Most of all do not compare yourself to other yummy mummies. Your goals should be for your health not to imitate what others are doing.

  1. Beverages do not count. Seriously?

Unless you are that naïve, it is difficult to believe that you do not count beverages that make you stubbornly fat. Everything that enters the body makes you what you are. Think of those frappes, lattes, juices, colas and every other liquid in between you have consumed. This is why you have not lost any inches from the waistline.

Drink water to remain hydrated. It is the best solution to avoid extra calories that other beverages give.

  1. Stay hungry, stay foolish

Guess, late Steve Jobs so right when he said, “Stay hungry, stay foolish”. When you say you are hungry you may be thirsty, depressed, tired, stressed at work or wishing to change the routine. Identify what works with your fitness journey. Stop lying and hold yourself accountable.

We have just scraped the surface to identify the reasons for remaining fat. You need to find out your personal reasons and get a reality check.
